Meeting Information

Quarterly Meeting:

    The Quarterly Meeting is held at the Woodland's Country Club on the second Saturday of February, May, August and November.  These meetings include a social hour and brunch or lunch depending on the month (see below for times).  We make a concerted effort to hold the cost of the luncheon to under $20.  The highlight of the meetings is the guest speaker presentation. 

    In the recent past, we have had presentations by Vice-Admiral Norbert Ryan, President of National MOAA, Ms. Suzanne McCormick, CEO Southern Maine Red Cross, Mr. David Flannigan, Former President/CEO of Central Maine Power Company, Mr. John F. "Dugan" Shipway, President of Bath Iron Works, Representative Thom Watson from the Maine State Legislature, Dr. David Howes, President, Martin's Point Health Care and Admiral Gregory (Grog) Johnson, former Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Europe.  We have also been fortunate enough to hear from Dr. Dervilla M. McCain, MD who spoke to us about her work with cardio-vascular health, LTC John Jansen, C.O. of the 133rd Combat Engineer Battalion who spoke to us about his recent experiences in Iraq, MajGen Tinkham, Adjutant General for the Maine National Guard,  Mr. Peter Cianchette and Mr. Jonathan Carter, two of the State's gubernatorial candidates, Maine's Attorney General, Mr. Steven Rowe, Mrs. Marjorie E.V. Dawson, CEO, Portland and Montreal Pipeline, Mr. Joe Cupo, the longtime weatherman on Channel 6 TV, Major General Thomas Kinley from Northern New England AAA, Dr. Walter A. Anderson, Retired State of Maine Geologist and Rob McAleer, Director of Maine's Emergency Management Agency

    Our next meeting will be a luncheon at the Woodlands Country Club on Saturday, February 13th starting with a social hour at 11:00 am.  The guest speaker will be Dr. Thomas Eastler, Professor of Geology, U. Maine Farmington.  Dr. Eastler will be talking about the about the importance of geology in tactical as well as strategic planning by the Department of Defense.  The lunch meal will be served beginning at 12:00 noon.  Chapter members will receive a reservation form with the January Newsletter.

The lunch meetings normally commence with a social hour at 1100, with the meal being served at 1200.

The brunch meetings commence with a social hour at 0900, with the meal being served around 9:30.

Board of Directors' Meeting:

    The Board of Directors' meeting is held monthly, generally on the second Monday of the month, at the National Guard Armory in South Portland.  All members of the Chapter are invited to attend.

    The meeting starts at 1000 and lasts for about one hour.

Executive Committee Meeting:

    The Executive Committee consists of the Chapter's elected officers and other billet holders.  It is held at the discretion of the President to deal with the normal operations of the Chapter, evaluate progress on various initiatives, and to develop recommendations for consideration by the Board of Director's or the membership as a whole.
